Recently, one of my conference presentation proposals was rejected by a national association. Bummer.

But the funny thing was that I didn’t even need to read the email to know I had been rejected. After having been a recruiter for so many years, I happen to know the commonly used words and what they really mean.

So for the first time ever, I’m sharing those trigger words with you, so that you’ll always immediately know if you got the job; if your proposal was accepted; if you’re gettin’ that loan…you get my drift.

If the first word is…”Congratulations”

Good news! You landed the job! Your proposal was selected! You’re gettin’ that loan! Of course, now you probably should actually read the rest of the letter so you know what you need to do next.

If the first words are…”Thank you”

You’ve been deee-nied! (said in Suze Orman’s voice) Those very kind words are the kiss of death when you’re asking for something. But now that you know this ain’t happening, you can quickly pick yourself up and move on to pursue the next big thing. And there is a next big thing!

Be ye encouraged my fellow trailblazers!

GTall signing off.
